Welcome to the Realm - A - Thon!

 In April I will be taking part in the Realm of the Readathon hosted by the beautiful Cassidy of Covers by Cassidy.  The premise goes is that there are four lands have been at a magical standstill for thousands of years. They are struggling to be the ultimate ruling magic of the realm. Now, a tipping point has been reached and they are all trying to deplete the magic of the other realms. Some magic will fall and some will remain.

How It Works

Once you have pledged your magic to a realm. You can either read prompts to boost your own magical powers or to decrease another’s. Prompts can be doubled up, you can use a maximum of 5 prompts per book but they must all be decreasing prompts or all be increasing prompts.

When decreasing, you will get to choose the realm, but you can only decrease the magic of realms that have borders to yours. So Serane, my realm can decrease the magic of Eskana or Calamis but not Bayle.

Each realm has their own team captains and subgenre.  The focus should be on military fantasy since we are essentially either invading or protecting our realms.

I choose the realm of Serane because it is the water realm.  Most of our land is covered with water, and the citizens worship the Leviathan.  Dead are given a water burial with the hopes of being reborn as a mighty sea serpant.

Subgenre: Whimsical Fantasy;

            I admit I don't think I own much whimsical fantasy novels but I will see what I have and how to work it into the battle so to speak

There are both Increasing prompts and decreasing prompts meant to either increase the magic of your realm or decrease the magic of another realm as I mentioned before.  There is also bonus points for reading your realms' subgenre, and military fantasy, as well as a read-a-thon weekend (April 9-10) where every book you read gets on extra +10.  Hopefully my in-laws are gone so I can read all weekend!

It is an interesting concept and I am looking forward to see how my books measure up and how they can impact my realm.  I will keep a list of the books I have read below

If you want to join in on the fun there is still a few days...check out Covers by Cassidy's announcement video below:
